On Sunday afternoon, April 7th, the Bloomfield Civic Band, under the direction of Frank Ortega, put on an amazing concert of big band music, standards, and some great Latin jazz. The concert also featured vocalist Vince “The Prince” Torrell, who sang songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and arranged for Vince and the Civic Band by Mike Lamparello.

The Bloomfield Civic Band will continue its 2018–2019 concert season with a series of four concerts On the Green in downtown Bloomfield. Watch this space or the band’s Facebook page for more information about these outdoor concerts, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. on July 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd.

Meanwhile, you are cordially invited to two upcoming events:

  • The Bloomfield Federation of Music’s 75th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. at the Chandelier, 340 South Franklin Avenue, Belleville. Visit the Federation’s website or Facebook event page for more information.
  • The Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra, under the baton of Enrico Granafei, presents “Mandolin and the Movies” on Sunday, May 5th, at 3:00 p.m in the Dominick Ferrara III Memorial Auditorium at the Bloomfield Middle School on Huck Road in Bloomfield. Finally, if you are a band musician looking for a place to practice your craft, consider sitting in with the Bloomfield Civic Band for a rehearsal or two. We rehearse most Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. on the stage of the Bloomfield Middle School on Huck Road in Bloomfield.
