Getting Ready for a New Season

Members of the Bloomfield Civic Band spent some time recently organizing the music that the band performed this spring and summer. They filled several long tables with dozens of scores. The variety was amazing: marches and classical transcriptions, show tunes and movie themes, songs of longing for home and songs about the home front, American dances and a march in the Italian style by a Czech composer, music set in a Russian art institute and music set in an ancient Egyptian palace.

What a testament this variety of music is to the members of the Bloomfield Civic Band, who never shrink from a musical challenge! What a testament as well to the courage and breadth of knowledge possessed by Frank Ortega, our esteemed Director!

What will our 2018–2019 season look and sound like? There are two ways that you can find out:

  •  Mark your calendar with our concert dates and plan to be thrilled by some great music. Our first concert is scheduled for Sunday, October 28, at 3:00 p.m. at the Bloomfield Middle School.
  • If you play a wind-band instrument, come and join us. We welcome musicians of all skill levels and we rehearse every Monday night at 7:30 at the Bloomfield Middle School on Huck Road in Bloomfield.

There’s a lot more great music available that we could play. If you want to help us grow our library and our repertoire, consider making a donation to the band. Donations in any amount are welcome and are tax deductible.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. We hope to see you soon, and if you can’t join us for a rehearsal or a concert we hope you will leave a note on our Facebook page.

Rehearsals are held at the Bloomfield Middle School on Huck Road from mid-September through mid-June (location may vary). Rehearsals start promptly at 7:30 PM and end at 9:30 PM
