2011 Bloomfield Federation of Music Hall of Fame Inductee: Kevin Hagen

Kevin Hagen MA. was born and raised in Newark. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel elementary school and Essex Catholic High School. He went on to graduate from the Berklee College of Music in 1980. After returning to NJ, Kevin played with the Moonlighters Big Band as well as several different small club date bands in the area, always maintaining a day job to pay the bills. It was in this period when Kevin first joined the Bloomfield Civic Band as a clarinetist. After taking a break from the band for year Dominick called and invited him back into the band to play alto saxophone.

In 1992 he started his music teaching career in Newark. Since 2002 Kevin has been teaching instrumental music at Hannah Caldwell and Connecticut Farms elementary schools in the Union Township school district. Composing and recording songs and other instrumental works are his passion. Kevin also enjoys teaching private music lessons in his studio in his home. Kevin lives in Parsippany with his wife Delma, son Kevin Joseph and dog Max.
